Nosferatu – Screening and Live Music
22 May @ 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Sebastian Heindl, organ
Sir Christopher Frayling, introductory talk
Screening of the 1922 classic silent film, Nosferatu, with live organ improvisation.
In 2019 Heindl won one of the most prestigious organ competitions (Longwood Gardens Organ Competition, USA) and in 2022 was appointed head of church music at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Memorial-Church Berlin. This season he has sold out main stage halls (Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, MUPA Budapest, Musikverein Vienna) with his charismatic virtuoso interpretations, often appearing as composer-improviser; in this performance he will be spontaneously improvising the score to Nosferatu, the 1922 silent vampire film, once banned and now regarded as an influential masterpiece of the horror genre. The film will be introduced by Sir Christopher Frayling, author of Vampire Cinema.
