‘Performance Storytelling’ is a contemporary take on the traditional storytelling format, by taking the corpus of old myths, fairy tales and folklore and applying contemporary formats such as physical theatre, spoken word poetry, stand-up comedy and improvisation in order to bring these ancient stories to life in front of an audience in an engaging and relatable way.
The result is no dusty museum piece, but a living and breathing art form that somehow manages to be ancient and modern at the same time.
For ‘Celtic Tides’, folklorist and storyteller Oliver Lavery teams up with folk musician and songwriter Tamsin Quin to bring you a unique performance storytelling show of traditional Celtic tales from Britain and Ireland with original musical compositions.
All the tales in this show (as one might expect) have a nautical or aquatic theme.
