Conversations on Loneliness

9 July @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

What is loneliness and how should we view it? Is it a pathology to be cured? Or an inevitable human experience from which we are increasingly estranged?

According to the media, we are suffering from a ‘loneliness epidemic.’ Scientists, medics, and politicians are scrambling to identify the most effective ways to eliminate loneliness from our lives. Yet respected scholars and artists also hint that ‘to be alive is to be lonely.’

We invite you to consider these questions (and more) in a panel discussion from University of Bath with loneliness scholar and author Dr Sam Carr and professional photographer Adrian Wyatt.

Come along to the Mission Theatre on Tuesday 9th July for a free talk to see how art, research and community can help us understand loneliness.

This talk is part of the Minerva lectures, a public lecture series run by the University of Bath, looking at the latest insights into the big issues of today and those that will shape the world in the future.
