Elon Musk’s Road to Riches

6 May @ 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

Elon Musk's Road to Riches

Elon Musk is often said to be the richest man in the world. Many think he owns Tesla. How did he become so wealthy – and why was his latest bonus blocked by a court in Delaware?

In Britain, high pay attracts enormous media criticism. Concerns in the US are more muted, so why is Tesla under the spotlight for this? This talk will track Musk’s involvement with Tesla from the early days, touching on his Twitter bid, his other ventures such as SpaceX and his role in the current US government administration. How important are safeguards and rules?

You might know Paul Jackson as the convener of heritage talks at BRLSI. He also writes the fortnightly No Free Lunch column in the Investors’ Chronicle, where his brief is corporate governance (the checks and balances within companies intended to stop abuses of power). This talk will expand on an article he published in January, and he will be talking in a personal capacity.
