Engineers Making a Difference
26 February @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Washing machines, rollercoasters and space are all connected by one thing – engineering.
What do engineers do and why do they do it? And what are the barriers stopping young people from exploring an engineering career?
Join Dr Shini Somara in conversation with podcaster & presenter Jo Durrant as they discuss her own journey and the impact she hopes her work around equality and inclusion will have.
Dr Shini Somara is a multi-award winning author, presenter and mechanical engineer who is on a mission to bring complex science, technology and engineering to everyone. She has been awarded for her work in promoting engineering as a career, raising diversity and inclusion and more through her broadcasting, writing and presenting (Top 50 Women Engineers UK 2024).
Her latest book, Engineers Making A Difference shines a spotlight on a variety of engineers, from apprentices to technicians, professors to entrepreneurs, many of whom don’t conform to stereotypes.
This talk is part of Brilliantly Engineered.
