Frank Sinatra & the first concept album
25 April @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Frank Sinatra and the psychedelic world of the concept albums of the 1960s and 1970s seem worlds apart from each other, but it was Sinatra who created what is arguably the first concept album, back in 1955.
Matthew Zuckerman explores the origins of the album In the Wee Small Hours and delves into how Sinatra crafted sixteen disparate songs into one long, dark night of the soul that reignited his career and helped to create a new genre.
Matthew is the co-convenor of the BRLSI Music Group. He was the editor of Printed Matter, an English-language literary journal in Japan, and a features writer for The Bath Chronicle.
