Journalist, author and political commentator Daniel Finkelstein joins bestselling author and broadcaster Simon Mayo to discuss his moving account of his parent’s remarkable experiences during the Second World War.
Finkelstein’s mother, Mirjam, a school friend of Anne Frank’s in Amsterdam, was rounded up aged 10 and sent to Bergen-Belson with her mother and sisters. His father Ludwik was deported – also aged 10 – from Poland to Siberia and endured the horrors of the Soviet Gulag. Finkelstein’s account is a deeply moving story of persecution, resistance and miraculous survival, told with the almost unimaginable bravery of two ordinary families shining through.
