How the 1963 Bristol Bus Boycott changed Britain

The 1963 Bristol Bus Boycott was a momentous occasion in British legal and civil rights history. Join author Roger Griffith MBE as he reveals how Windrush pioneers, inspired by international movements and working with local MP Tony Benn, challenged racial discrimination to create lasting change. Their courageous actions led to the end of the “colour bar” on Bristol’s buses and laid the groundwork for the 2010 UK Equalities Act, impacting rights for all. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how this landmark victory for social justice changed the face of Britain.

After leaving school without qualifications during the turbulent 1980s, Roger Griffith became a passionate advocate of life-long learning, social activism and community leader. Now a lecturer, Roger shares his experiences growing up Black and British through writing and public speaking. He delivers diversity training, advocates for lifelong learning, and heads his social enterprise, Creative Connex CIC. Recognised for his dedication and his work Roger holds an MBE, an honorary doctorate, a Bristol Lord Mayor’s medal and has recently become a TEDx speaker.
