Performing Poetry workshop led by Sue Boyle, a BRLSI event

3 February @ 2:00 pm 5:00 pm

Performing Poetry Workshop

Perform poetry with Sue Boyle’s interactive Readers’ and Writers’ Workshops. All attending can get involved.

Performing Poetry will focus on making the presentation of well-known and popular poems as eloquent and enjoyable as possible. Rejoice in the skilful use of rhythm and rhyme and celebrate the old custom of reciting great anthology pieces among friends. Think Kubla Khan. Think Sir Patrick Spen. Think Old Possum. Think Hiawatha. Think Wild Swans at Coole.

Poet and events organiser Sue Boyle has been contributing to the BRLSI programme for many years. She is a widely published poet who has given festival workshops in Exeter, Appledore and Torbay. Her verse novel, The Letters from Mexico, and meditations on the Holocaust, Report from the Judenplatz, have each received full-stage performances as well as featured guest readings across the West Country.

More about BRLSI

The Bath Royal and Literary Scientific Institution (BRLSI), supports Science, Literature and Art to the City of Bath and now, thanks to the power of digital technology, the wider world. They provide a community hub for those interested in cultural activities and a host of smaller cultural societies that meet in our building. As if that were not enough, they also maintain a rich geographical and ethnological collection of world renown and importance. BRLSI are celebrating their 200th anniversary this year.
