‘Phenomenal Women’ – Christine McGourty

Inspired by the poem written by Maya Angelou, ‘Phenomenal Woman’ the Gainsborough Hotel launched a series in 2018 inviting women from all backgrounds who have achieved recognition and made a significant impact in their field to share their experiences and challenges encountered in their path to success.

Up to date and on the pulse a series of dialogues with some of the country’s most inspiring women.

Thursday 6th March 2025 celebrating International Women’s Day.

A successful 20-year career in journalism, including Technology Correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and regular appearances as Science and Environment Correspondent for BBC TV and Radio News.

Their second ‘Phenomenal Women’ guest speaker for 2025 is Christine McGourty on Thursday 6th of March.

Christine is a national newspaper, TV and Radio journalist turned business leader and expert in communications, with a passion for science and the environment. The epitome of the Renaissance woman, with relatives from Venice, she is now pursuing postgraduate studies in The History of Art at the Courtauld Institute in London while researching a book about her Italian family connections to the world of 20th Century modern art. She also works as a Non-Executive Director, advisor and speaker.

Inspired by the discovery of the hole in the ozone layer in the 1980s, Christine began her career reporting from London and then Washington DC, USA, for the world-leading science magazine Nature.
