William Herschel, using a telescope of his own design, discovered the planet Uranus in 1781 from his house in Bath and ever since the region has built on this legacy of space innovation.
The West of England is home to one of the UK’s seven regional space hubs with more than 50 space organisations located here. This expertise is enhanced by our status as the UK’s largest aerospace cluster.
