Summer Sundays – Celebration of the Sun
25 August @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
The source of energy that powers life on Earth. The Sun. Find out more about how it works and dare to have a look at it through certified safe telescopes in various wavelengths of light. Reflect on how Bath’s own William Herschel used sunlight to discover the existence of infrared radiation and how similar our star is to 400 billion others in our Milky Way and yet what makes it a unique a place, our solar system, so life could start.
This pop-up dwarf galaxy of buddies and boffins from the Herschel Museum of Astronomy and Bath Astronomers will be on hand to answer your Sun and space related questions and perhaps tell you about the adventures of Alexander, Caroline and William 243 years ago in Bath. Solar telescopes will be available for you to look through to see what explosions are going on the Sun and if you spot a massive solar flare heading towards the Earth, we’ll name it after you.
Summer Sundays
Back for its third year, Summer Sundays is a celebration of family-friendly activities happening in Bath City Centre over the summer holidays. This year, we are proud to be supporting a number of charities.
