Theatre School Age: 12 – 14 Summer Term 2024

A group for those looking to enhance their skills and experience in theatre in a creative and inclusive environment. For anyone who loves to perform, create and wants to learn more about different theatre-making techniques. Led by industry professionals, members will explore their creativity and gain practical experience of performance and theatre-making.
Skills developed:
• Expanding knowledge of contemporary theatre
• Physical storytelling skills
• Practical understanding of stagecraft
• Deepening knowledge of narrative and plot
• Introducing character study and text analysis
Summer term dates: 13th May – 13th July.
Throughout the term they will be exploring theatre’s relationship with the natural world and its potential to address environmental and climatic challenges.
They will be asking:
• What is our responsibility to the world we live in?
• How can we use theatre as a tool for change?
• What impact can our creativity make on those around us?
Working with a professional director, participants will be led through performance and acting workshops, devising and storytelling exercises and movement exploration. The group will explore fantastical narratives, characters and themes Including: Eragon, The Narnia Chronicles, The Hobbit and the Never Ending Story. Members will explore these stories through performance, movement and stagecraft and utilise them to explore climatic challenges and environmental responsibilities.
The work adapted and devised during the term will be performed as part of our TRBTS end of term building takeover. A full day of performances, workshops and exhibitions all created and led by TRBTS members, inviting members of the public to hear the young people’s voice.
