Theatre School Age: 9 – 12 Summer Term 2024

A group for those looking to enhance their understanding of theatre and performance in a creative and inclusive environment. For anyone who loves to perform, create and collaborate and wants to learn more about different theatre-making techniques. Led by industry professionals members will explore their creativity and gain practical experience in performance and theatre-making.
Skills developed:
• Introducing stagecraft
• Understanding narrative and storytelling
• Enhancing team working and ensemble skills
• Introduction to physical storytelling
• Introduction to devising from a stimuli
Summer term dates: w/c 13th May – 13th July.
Throughout the term they will be exploring theatres’s relationship with the natural world and its potential to address environmental and climatic challenges.
They will be asking:
• What is our responsibility to the world we live in?
• How can we use theatre as a tool for change?
• What impact can our creativity make on those around us?
Working with a professional director, participants will be led through performance and acting workshops, devising and storytelling exercises and physical storytelling tasks. The group will explore the timeless stories of The Lorax, The Little Prince and The Giving Tree and use their characters and theme to create their own play focused on environmental action
The play will perform as part of our TRBTS end-of-term building takeover. A full day of performances, workshops and exhibitions all created and led by TRBTS members, inviting members of the public to hear the young people’s voices.
