What does it mean to grieve for the planet? Ecological loss and grieving the non-human

13 November @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm

Join a panel of experts from University of Bath as they discuss the experience and impact of ecological and environmental loss in a free virtual lecture on 13 November.

Understanding what loss means when people die has been a growing area of social scientific study over the last fifty years, but what about the loss of the environment, our politics or the planet? How can we make sense of loss on such a large scale? And what does it mean to think about loss beyond humans?

Join their panel as they discuss the experience and impact of ecological and environmental loss, grief for political systems that should (and could) have prevented such loss, and where this leaves us as a species.

Joining the panel will be academics Professor Darcy Harris and Caroline Hickman, and campaigners and activists Emily Malik and PhD student and eco-poet Caleb Parkin. The panel will be Chaired by the Centre for Death and Society co-director Kate Woodthorpe as part of the Centre’s More-than-Human week.
