Created by a staff member studying Environmental Science at the Uni of Bath, The Apex Hotel has an entire rooftop planted with sedum and wild flowers. It was designed by Sophie Scott in 2022 and the success of the project can be seen from above with a completely green roof.
This year, to add to the biodiversity, 20,000 bees have been given a home on the roof. Michael Musgrave, General Manager of Apex City of Bath said, “It’s due to the success of our bio-diversity green roof project that we were able to introduce our new guests to the space. We’ve worked with local beekeeper, Daniel Job, to ensure that the Apex Bees have the best environment to thrive in.’
When the RHS judges visited Bath in July, they were treated to a tour of the roof, as well as a taste of the delicious honey cocktails made in the hotel from the beehives on the roof.
