Join University of Bath for a live podcast recording about compassion and how we sustain it.

Dr Lucy Maddox will speak to Mike and Naomi, hosts of the SENSE(LESS) podcast to discuss how compassion is vital to many personal and professional relationships, and key services like healthcare, but how compassionate care can also be compromised.

Using her research on teenage mental health ward settings, Dr Maddox will discuss how compassion fatigue, physical and emotional exhaustion, can reduce compassion, which in turn can be associated with severe and sometimes fatal consequences in healthcare. She believes it is important we understand how to cultivate and sustain it.

This live podcast aims to give the public a glimpse of what goes on in university research and show how these topics can actually relate to everyday life, after all who doesn’t need a little more compassion in their life.

It’s suitable for everyone from those with caring responsibilities, to NHS workers to parents to anyone who wants to understand more about compassion.

Tickets are free, but need to be booked in advance.
