After School Club Supervisor at King Edward’s School

King Edward’s School wishes to appoint, for a September start, an enthusiastic and caring After School Club Supervisor to look after the running of the Junior School After School Club. You will be responsible for providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for our children by working in partnership with colleagues, parents and carers.

Responsible to:
Head of Junior School for line management responsibilities and the Bursar & Chief Operating Officer, who has overall responsibility for all support staff.

Responsible for:
Being a member of the After School Club staff team and providing supervision in a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children whilst promoting the school values.
Adhering to School policies and procedures to ensure the safe, effective and compliant running of the provision.

Main responsibilities
1. Maintaining the safety, welfare and good conduct of the pupils during the After School Club.
2. Undertaking the daily supervision of the After School Club, developing and maintaining high standards throughout to ensure the welfare of the children at all times.
3. With support from the wider staff, ensuring children have access to appropriate activities to support their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development ensuring that the school’s Equal Opportunities Policy is adhered to.
4. Maintaining the After School Club to an agreed standard of cleanliness and hygiene, before, during and at the end of each session, and be responsible for all Health and Safety matters in the After School Club to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those who use and work in the Club.
5. Supervising the safe escorting of children to ensure their wellbeing at all times.
6. Taking a key role in suitably equipping the After School Club in order to provide a stimulating environment for the children
7. Ensuring that high standards are maintained with regards to how the club runs.
8. Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies arising according to the school’s policies and procedures.
9. Reporting back to the appropriate member of staff using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the After School Club, or any other issues that may be relevant.
10. Promoting and reinforcing school policies, practices and procedures, including an understanding of child protection and Health and Safety responsibilities.
11. Acting as an adult role model and supporting school policies when dealing with pupils, parents, carers, visitors and all members of the school community.
General
12. Attending relevant training and meetings as required.
13. Respecting confidentiality and the School’s GDPR Policy at all times.
14. Participating in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager.
15. Understanding and applying school policies in relation to health, safety, welfare and behaviour of pupils.
16. Complying with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for Health & Safety in the workplace.
17. Ensuring that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

Pension Scheme
If eligible, you will be automatically enrolled into the School’s Support Staff Personal Pension Scheme with an employer’s contribution of 6% of salary, to be matched by a 2% employee contribution.

Safeguarding
All staff are in a position of trust and have a duty to keep children and young people safe and to protect them from neglect and physical and emotional harm. This duty is in part exercised through the development of respectful caring and professional relationships between staff, children, and young people. Staff are expected to be familiar with the local child protection arrangements and understand their responsibilities in order to safeguard and protect children and young people.

DBS Clearance
All appointments are made subject to satisfactory DBS clearance. The suitability of all prospective employees or volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment.

Qualifications
Education to A level or its equivalent and beyond including 5 GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent, including English and Mathematics 🗸
NVQ3 or equivalent evidence of qualifications related to education or child development and care. 🗸
Knowledge and Experience Essential Desirable
