Energy Caseworker at the Warmer Homes Advice and Money project

The Warmer Homes Advice and Money (WHAM) project is looking to recruit an Energy Caseworker. The role will be based in the project-specific area: Bristol, B&NES and North Somerset. Working within our Household Energy Services (HES) team, the WHAM Energy Caseworker role is for people who have two or more years of experience giving advice or helping others and can provide strong customer service, with personal resilience and boundaries.

Pay and conditions

  • The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • The salary for the role will be £25,953 – £28,520
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid holiday (plus statutory holidays)

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

  • Engage with disadvantaged households who need help with their energy issues
  • Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in a cold home
  • To deliver talks and training to professional staff, community groups and the public. To provide training to hospitals, health and social care staff and other key organisations on fuel poverty and how to refer to further services
  • Attend outreach events
  • Support households over a period if there are several issues to be resolved
  • To deliver complex casework and home visits with minimal support
  • Support CSE volunteers and interns
  • Maintain appropriate client confidentiality following relevant policies and procedures

Essential attributes for this role include:

  • Minimum Maths and English GCSE
  • Experience in giving advice and customer service
  • Experience taking the lead on the delivery and coordination of project-based activity
  • Experience managing a caseload
  • Ability to respond to vulnerable clients in a respectful and engaging manner
  • Highly organised at managing time and workload
  • Ability to present complex information in an accessible and appropriate manner
  • Able to work independently and use own initiative
