Personal Assistant to CEO

The Personal Assistant to the CEO will provide domestic and personal administrative support for the CEO of SHM Productions and his close circle of family and friends. It will be mainly based near to Bradford-on-Avon (near Bath), Wiltshire, working in a shared office space, from your home or in the CEO’s home. There may be a requirement at times to work in other locations including at the SHM office in Holborn in London or on occasional international trips.

SHM is a small consulting firm who help clients to solve complex, human-centred problems with a focus on human motivations and interpersonal relationships. The CEO is also a Founding Trustee of the SHM Foundation. Until 1996, he was a full-time academic, working at the Universities of Cambridge, Birmingham and Zurich. His published work covers literature, philosophy, anthropology and the dynamics of cultural change. In 1996 he left academia to set up SHM, which he leads as its Chief Executive. He continues to maintain close ties with academia, holding a post at University College London. He also has a broad range of interests, commitments and a wide network of personal contacts and engagements in the UK and globally.

Overview of Role:

This role will provide personal assistance to the CEO of SHM and his close circle of family and friends. It will focus on supporting the household with personal administration and domestic tasks, to enable the CEO and his household to manage their lives and wide-range of responsibilities and interests. The Personal Assistant will liaise with a range of different people and organisations, acting assertively to ensure the personal commitments of the CEO and his circle of close family and friends are represented and balanced with his corporate, academic and charitable work.

The Personal Assistant will help coordinate domestic and social activities of the household which could include booking appointments, personal administration, expenses or booking and coordinating contractors. It will require careful diary management, personal travel research and liaison with the CEO’s Executive Assistant at SHM and other contacts to ensure the personal and professional responsibilities and interests of the CEO work harmoniously and cohesively.

The role will also at times provide personal assistance to the Head of Strategy and Client Engagement, which will include personal administrative and domestic support such as coordinating her personal diary, booking personal appointments and liaising with contractors and any other domestic tasks that help her to manage a very busy professional schedule, with significant world-wide travel.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, pro-active, efficient and have a keen eye for detail. We are looking for someone who can build effective relationships with people from a range of different backgrounds and organisations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to balance providing a precise and effective personal assistance service with a friendly and helpful approach.

You will need first-class communication skills, including an impeccable telephone manner and first-rate attention to detail and quality assurance. You will have a flexible and proactive attitude and observe scrupulous confidentiality.
