Planting
On 10 June we held a planting day to fill the urns along the wall at Parade Gardens and the planters on Union Passage. With sponsorship arranged by Buro Happold, 12 businesses contributed to the cost of the plants, and 31 volunteers arrived to help plant them. The Bath BID team and Bath in Bloom volunteers were joined by staff from the Apex Hotel, Stride Treglown, DKA Architects, Transform Communications, Bath BID Welcome Ambassadors and a team of seven from McDonalds.
As the sun shone we planted up 26 stone urns with Geraniums, Tradescantia and ‘Red Head’ Fountain Grass, as well as tidying up and planting 12 planters in Union Passage. As soon as the planting was finished a sudden downpour of rain provided some additional watering to the newly planted flowers, and the sun came back out in time for the volunteers to be treated to a picnic in Parade Gardens with a generous contribution of burgers, chips and drinks from McDonalds.
Thank you to everyone who took part and if you would like to get involved in future projects get in touch with miriam.zaccarelli@bathbid.co.uk.
Litter-Picking
There are also litter picking opportunities, which the Francis Hotel, Abbey Hotel and the DoubleTree By Hilton have supported, and tidy up benches and street furniture around the city, which The Apex Hotel have helped with.
Painting
On 5 June a team from The Apex Hotel arrived at 7.30am to paint the benches by the Abbey, as part of the Bench refurbishing project carried out by Bath BID.
Next Tidy Day
Thank you for everyone’s help in making Bath even more beautiful before the Britain in Bloom judging dates. To give the city some extra sparkle before judging, we have one more litter pick and tidy up day planned.
The date is 13th August and if you would like to help, please sign up to the events below so we can make sure we have enough equipment and refreshments for everyone:
