Wonderful Walcot Street

Probably the oldest commercial street in Bath, Walcot Street is known to have been the site of one of Bath’s earliest Roman settlements. Since then, it has continued to be a focal point for the community and commerce, with an extensive range of locally owned and managed businesses along the street.

More recently it has been fondly referred to as Walcot Artisan Quarter reflecting the many makers who occupy the street. From knitters to glassblowers, tilemakers, framers and artists have all gathered to create a supportive and holistic group of traders, with a good selection of second hand clothing stores to give you a great sustainable shopping day out. The main pub in the street is The Bell which is owned by the community and hosts regular music events. With the addition of an antiques and flea market on Saturdays, Walcot Street is the perfect place to spend a few hours exploring and there are plenty of opportunities for a bite to eat while you are there.
