In Conversation with Alan Davies
29 October @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

White Male Stand-Up is the sequel to Alan Davies’s best-selling memoir, Just Ignore Him. It tells the story of what happened next to the much loved comedian, writer and actor, best known as BBC’s Jonathan Creek and as a panelist on QI.
Davies throws himself wholeheartedly into the joyful, idealistic world of stand-up comedy, an adventure that leads to a career in television. But as echoes from the past resurface, the thought that everyone might prefer it if he disappeared, sees him repeatedly dismantle everything around him.
Featuring a cast of well-known comedians, actors, agents, and producers, Alan stumbles from the camaraderie of the comedy circuit to the life-changing fame of playing Jonathan Creek, only to be met with the humbling realization that most people now recognize him from a bank advert – and assume he’s had a perm.
Told with unflinching honesty and thoughtfulness, this is a story of soaring highs and crushing lows, of success, indulgence, and the perils that come with both.
