Every year at Christmas, Bath sparkles with glittering lights and the streets are filled with festive spirit. There really is no better place to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year than Bath!
This year will see the return of some of the Christmas activities we know and love, as well as some exciting new additions. Enjoy traditional celebrations around the Abbey Quarter, an illumination trail of the iconic and historic buildings of Bath, an assortment of Christmas shopping options, a Victorian carousel ride outside the Roman Baths, and street entertainment and carol singing throughout the festive period.

There are so many wonderful ways to celebrate Christmas in Bath.
Whether you catch a traditional pantomime at the Theatre Royal Bath, get your skates on and head to the outdoor rink at Bath on Ice, discover the stunning Museum of the Moon at Bath Abbey, or get into the mood with a Christmas carol service, there are plenty of fantastically festive events to enjoy.
ILLUMINATING THE CITY
This Christmas, the Bath Christmas Light Trail will bring some of the city’s most iconic streets and buildings to life with magical illuminations.
There will be extra sparkle across the city centre, adding some festive magic as you do your Christmas shopping.

FAMILY FRIENDLY FESTIVITIES
Bath will be filled with family friendly activities and events this Christmas.
From a free Lantern Making Workshop and the community-focused Bath Christmas Light Trail Switch-On to the environmentally minded Elves’ Swapshop and the return of lots of family favourites, there is plenty for the whole clan to enjoy this festive season.
THE ELVES’ SWAPSHOP
The Christmas elves have joined the upcycling revolution!
This year, they invite children to visit the fascinating Elves’ Swapshop at 5 Old Bond Street, where they are training the Share and Repair volunteers to refurbish toys and give them a new, loving home.
Tickets are available for a workshop demo and a jolly singalong with the elves.
MUSEUM OF THE MOON
Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon will be lighting up Bath Abbey this festive season.
There will be Christmas carols, magical storytelling and moon-gazing with the Bath Astronomers, all under the light of the moon in Bath Abbey’s newly restored worship space.
There will be plenty of opportunity to meet and buy from local makers in Bath this Christmas.
After a break of nearly two years, Bath Artisan Market is back and running every day from 20th November to 19th December! Head to Queen Square to join the festivities.
From Friday 26th November to Sunday 19th December, a selection of local Artisan Makers will be on show in Bath’s iconic Abbey Quarter, displaying their unique crafts. From blankets and Christmas decorations, to brownies and jewellery, grab a gift for the whole family!
When it comes to a spot of Christmas shopping, Bath has an array of wonderful shops offering a great selection of gifts.
Head into the city centre on Thursdays from 25th November for a spot of after-hours Christmas shopping.
This Christmas, Bath & North East Somerset Council will be adapting its two city centre hubs, at 15 New Bond Street and 15 Cheap Street, into pop-up shops, showcasing some of the city’s very best local traders. The pop-ups will be open every Friday to Sunday until 19th December, from 10am to 5pm.
