Jane Austen Character Trail Through Historic Bath

In celebration of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, we are working with the Jane Austen Centre to create the Jane Austen Character Trail! From 31st May – 22nd September, find all 26 of the Jane Austen Characters in the shops below.

The trail has been generously sponsored by jeweller Nicholas Wylde.

Pick up a competition book from the Bath BID Office on York Street and from participating businesses.

You can be in with the chance of winning the following:

A personalised limited edition Jane Austen 250th anniversary pendant from Nicholas Wylde jewellers
2 x tickets to the Jane Austen Centre
A lunch for two at the Ivy Bath Brasserie and Garden.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE JANE AUSTEN TRAIL?

Follow the trail in the competition booklet to discover the Jane Austen characters in each shop window. You have until 22nd September to submit your competition booklet at the Jane Austen Centre on Gay Street, or complete the online form.

We will collect all the winning entries, and a random entry will win the prizes stated above.

Join this free Window Trail Competition run by Bath Business Improvement District from 31st May – 22nd September 2025.
The prize draw is open to all UK residents and is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary.
The prizes are as follows:
A personalised Jane Austen themed pendant from Nicholas Wylde
Two tickets to the Jane Austen Centre
A lunch for two at The Ivy Bath Brasserie and Garden

To Enter:
Participants need to follow the window trail map to find all 26 characters in the windows.
Each participating shop will have a window sticker on display.
You need to write the name of the character and the novel they are from next to the shop name on the form.
All completed entries must be submitted by using the online form or in person to the Jane Austen Centre.
Only one entry per person is permitted and only one of the 3 prizes will be given to each of the winners.
You can collect the competition form in person from 11A York Street, or one of the participating businesses.

To be included in the prize draw, all entrants must submit a name, telephone number and email address. Children under the age of 18 years old may submit an entry and include the contact details of a guardian or parent.

Terms and Conditions

The name, email address and telephone number provided by entrants is for the purposes of contacting prize winners only. Information you provide to us will be used to contact you by e-mail or by telephone with information about the prize draw. The personal information submitted on entry will be stored and processed securely in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other relevant legislation. It will not be disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes. We will only keep this information for as long as is administratively necessary to allocate prizes. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed, not legible or not posted correctly. Winners will be selected from all completed entries at random to win one of the prize stated above on September from all entries received. If a winner does not respond, with their postal address, to the Promoter within 14 days of being notified by the Promoter, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited, and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above. No cash alternative will be offered, and the prize is non-exchangeable and non-transferable. The winner may be contacted by the Promoter to request a quote or for their name to be mentioned in the Promoter’s media channels. The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it. Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
