The Jane Austen 250th Birthday Golden Regency Soirée & Golden Regency Ball
To be held on Saturday, the Thirteenth Day of September, in the Year Two Thousand and Twenty-Five.
Dearest Reader,
It is with the our utmost delight and a flutter of one’s most exquisite fan that we announce a grand evening dedicated to honouring the 250th birthday of the incomparable Miss Jane Austen.
It is of course mandatory that you wear Regency attire, you will be choosing just how much gold you dare to wear – be it a piece of jewellery, a gold feather, delicate hints or yards of it in unabashed magnificence. It will be a great delight to have you join us for an evening of dining, music, dancing and much merriment.
🕡 Half past six o’clock in the evening — The Golden Soirée, Lansdowne Bar, the Apex Hotel, Bath
The bar area will be transformed to create a larger space for your comfort and enjoyment. You’ll be serenaded by the delicate strains of a harp whilst sipping complimentary welcome drinks. As you mingle with other equally distinguished company, you’ll be among the first people to view a newly created and inspired image of Jane Austen, a beautiful nod to the celebrations.
During the Golden Soirée and Golden Ball, you will of course have the joy of a silhouette created of yourself, as was de rigueur in the late eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries at the height of its popularity. We’re delighted to have secured just for you, one of the UK’s very few professional silhouette artists to capture your image, there is no extra cost for this beautiful memento.
🕢 Half past seven o’clock in the evening — The Golden Regency Ball, Lansdown Suite, the Apex Hotel, Bath
The suite will be transformed into an elegant space with gold featuring in the interior design and a bespoke dance floor prepared for your comfort and enjoyment. A full three course dinner will be served and a cash bar will be available for drinks to be brought to your table.
A major highlight of the evening will be the dancing led by our hugely experienced specialist regency dance teacher and caller, and equally talented musicians – we are most fortunate to have them entertain us. Those without a dance partner may link up with others who are willing and similarly placed.
Further Diversions and Delights: bespoke and other giveaways to astonish and amuse; secret prizes awarded for most intriguing distinctions; and also raffle tickets for prizes of a most tempting nature.
🕚 Eleven o’clock in the evening — Carriages
Alas, the evening must draw to a close as we bid you farewell. Happiest of times to you, with long lasting beautiful memories of a special evening in honour of Jane Austen’s 250! Au revoir.. till our next Jane Austen event.
N.B. 🕑 2 o’clock to 4 o’clock in the afternoon — Optional Regency Dance Workshop, Lansdowne Suite, the Apex Hotel, Bath
An assembly for the learning of and refinement of one’s steps and the cultivation of the most elegant dance figures. Suitable for both accomplished dancers and those who, like Mr. Darcy, require gentle persuasion to take to the dance floor. a night with of lots of dancing. Everyone is of course encouraged to join in. Those without a dance partner may link up with others who are willing and similarly placed. Comfortable loose clothing and comfortable shoes are advised. After your workshop, we’ll look forward to seeing in the evening.
