Paul Simon and Bob Dylan are two of the most respected songwriters of the 1960s and beyond, and Scarborough Fair and Girl From the North Country are two of their most loved songs. But both of the songs have their roots in a ballad that dates back to the 1600s.
Matthew Zuckerman, BRLSI Music Convenor, traces the history of the song and its many variants through 400 years, with recordings by Ewan MacColl, Martin Carthy, Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan and others.
