Theatre School Age: 16 - 18 Summer Term

A group for those excited by the possibilities of contemporary theatre making and performance and who want to enhance their skills and experience in the field. For the storytellers and thinkers who want to push the boundaries of theatre and interrogate the world around them.

Skills developed:

• Advanced understanding of form and content
• Advanced critical and analytical thinking
• Deepen understanding of contemporary theatre-making and professional theatre practice
• Advanced understanding of audience engagement
• Finding and fostering your own creative voice

Summer term dates: w/c 13th May – 13th July.

Throughout the term, they will be exploring theatre’s relationship with environmentalism and its potential to address environmental and climatic challenges.

They will be asking:

• What is our responsibility to the world we live in?
• How can we use theatre as a tool for change?
• What impact can our creativity make on those around us?

Through in-depth rehearsal skill workshops, character and text analysis and movement and voice exercises members will explore the words of leading playwrights such as Caryl Churchill, Mike Bartlet, Samuel Beckett, Kae Tempest and how they approached the natural world and our responsibility towards it.

Their members will be led by a professional performer to choose and rehearse monologues, dialogues and scenes which they will then perform in a showcase as part of our TRBTS end-of-term building takeover. A full day of performances, workshops and exhibitions all created and led by TRBTS members, inviting members of the public to hear our young people’s voices.
