The Bath BID Welcome Ambassadors Recommends: Restaurants in Bath

Bath is lucky to have a really wide selection of places to eat to suit every budget and every palate. We are all rather spoilt for choice, so we asked our wonderful Welcome Ambassadors to share their personal favourite restaurants in Bath…

“One of my favourite places to eat in Bath is the Hare & Hounds, up on the northern slopes of the city, in Lansdown. It’s the combination of exceptional food and stunning location that makes it really special, and I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather eat and drink while gazing out over the countryside. Their menus are imaginative and affordable, and the décor is elegant and uncluttered.

“As well as the main restaurant and outside terrace, there’s also a lower deck with an outside bar and a separate pizza menu when the weather’s good. The views from all these areas are truly wonderful and far-reaching, and if you’re inspired to go exploring there are some great walk suggestions on the pub’s website. Children are welcome, with special menus and activity packs available, and there’s even a neat little woodland play area on the bottom terrace.

“I can highly recommend the Hare & Hounds’ sister pubs, The Marlborough Tavern and The Locksbrook Inn, which are also run by the Bath Pub Company.”

“I enjoy eating tapas because it allows you to sample a range of flavours and textures, and for the same reason, I like tasting menus.

“Recently I enjoyed a fantastic seven-course tasting menu at Henry’s Restaurant. All of the courses were superb and complemented each other perfectly. The tasting menu comprised of trout gravlax, smoked potato raviolo, seared scallops, summer squash, stone bass, roasted duck breast, and a warm chocolate tart.

“It sounds like a lot of food, but the dishes are well balanced and just the right size so you leave feeling well fed but not over full.”

“A warm welcome awaits you in the central, independent Vietnamese restaurant, Noya’s Kitchen! Noya Pawlyn, who was born in Vietnam but brought up in the UK, began cooking for the family at an early age and in 2017, opened this restaurant to share her favourite dishes. Every one is a unique treat – made to order with fresh ingredients, a variety of spices and herbs, and full of flavour.   The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the service first-rate. Booking is essential!”

“If you like fine food in a friendly atmosphere and with good service, then Woods in Bath offers everything you need. The menu changes, so there is always something different to enjoy. It also helps that the owners have been running this lovely venue for 40 years!”
