Meet Bath’s Indie Heroes – Alex Peters from Green Park Brasserie and Bath Pizza Co

An extract from the 3rd Indie Bath, published for Winter 2022.

Meet Alex Peters, Director of Green Park Brasserie and Bath Pizza Co in Green Park and one of the Bath BID Board Directors:

Tell us a bit about Green Park Brasserie and Bath Pizza Co…

Green Park Brasserie is a steakhouse and jazz bar based in the old Green Park Railway Station in Bath city centre. We showcase outstanding local produce from Bath and the South West – think local steak, fish, burgers and ribs, as well as vegan and vegetarian dishes. Our buzzing atmosphere is added to with our live jazz, funk, soul and swing, which runs on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, year-round. We also offer popular Sunday roast, brunch, and bottomless brunch menus.

Established in 2016, Bath Pizza Co is the Brasserie’s younger sibling located on the old station side terrace. It has a more casual feel, where you can watch your food being made in front of you, and the world going by, with two-for-£12 cocktails. Bath Pizza Co landed in the top three of the National Pizza Awards, and the businesses have recently been recommended in National Geographic Traveller Food, The Sunday Times and Culture Trip.

Why Bath?

We are a father-son team from Bath, who are passionate about adding to the city’s foodie scene. The Brasserie has been running for over 30 years, and Bath Pizza Co. turns seven in spring 2023. Making Bath a fantastic place to live, work and visit is part of our mission – I believe that enjoying great food and drink in the company of those most important to you is one of life’s greatest pleasures. We’re fortunate that Bath has a strong tourism pull and a local demographic of people who are serious about their food and drink. The city is thriving, and we’re proud to offer a unique setting and experience. I’m optimistic that this will continue.

What do you do to spoil yourself?

Enjoy many of Bath’s independent eateries: Chez Dominique, Hudson Steakhouse, and Chequers, to name a few.

Your top indie recommendation in Bath?

We’re big fans of the friendly Taylor’s Bagels at the top of Walcot Street. The best coffee in Bath (probably!).
